Norman Armour was a passionate and visionary leader who shaped the arts community in Vancouver building connections between artists, presenters and arts organizations worldwide. The Vancouver International Children’s Festival Society was incredibly fortunate to work with him over the past 10 years.
Just as wolves travel in packs and work together to flourish in life, our group runs with one heart and one mind. Teaching our children the songs, dances, and stories will keep our traditions alive for generations to come. Come see us perform traditional Salish song and dance at this year’s Festival.

Rooted in African oral tradition, Yassama and the Beaded Calabash is the story of a young girl who, with the help of the old Baobab tree, saves her village from drought and delivers a powerful lesson about the importance of respecting and honouring Mother Earth.
