We’d like to introduce you to Melanie Hiepler. She is coming on board as our School and Information Administrator. Please contact Melanie for school bookings, inquiries about the Festival’s Adopt-a-Class program, and general inquiries about the Festival. Learn more about Melanie below!
Tell us how you first got involved with the Festival
I first experienced the Festival as a grade 1 French Immersion student! It’s neat to be on the other end of the Festival experience now.
Can you tell us about your role at the Festival?
I wear many hats here: I receive school bookings, take inquiries about our Adopt-a-Class program, and provide general administrative support to the Festival. The list will probably get longer as the Festival approaches!
What is your favourite thing to do in your spare time?
I love reading, singing, and riding my bike. I am also a big fan of live theatre, and can often be found searching out new sushi places around the Lower Mainland with my friends.
What do you wish other people knew about the Festival?
Live performance is for everybody! It’s such a great way to learn, grow, and build community. Allowing our kids to participate in performing arts is such a great way to help them grow into creative and caring adults!
What would you consider your hidden talent?
I really love to sing (like, for real, not just in the shower).
How are you involved in your community?
When I’m off studying at university, I tutor students in their writing and learning skills. I love helping my peers improve their work; watching them improve and have “lightbulb moments” is very gratifying.
What part of the Festival are you looking forward to the most?
I’m looking forward to seeing some very happy kids at the Festival. This year’s shows all look so good, I can’t wait for the kids to see them!
