Vancouver International Children’s Festival Week
May 24, 2017
In honour of our 40th festival, Vancouver’s mayor, Gregor Robertson, has proclaimed the week of May 28th as “Vancouver International Children’s Festival Week” in Vancouver. Our Mayor loves our festival just as much as we do, stating “As 2017 marks the 40th festival, I was thrilled to proclaim the week of May 28th as The Vancouver International Children’s Festival Week. The Vancouver International Children’s Festival has been delighting young audiences since 1978, and has become a crown jewel in the city’s cultural life.” We are honoured to have a special week dedicated to the Festival.
In addition to the proclamation, on May 29th, some of Vancouver’s most treasured and well-known structures will be lit up in celebration of the Festival’s 40th. Vancouver City Hall will be lit up purple and the sails at Canada Place will be lit with a rainbow of colours. May 29th marks the start of the Festival and we are excited the city will be alive with colour to start our celebration.
Be sure to join the fun on May 29th-June 4th, where you can participate in a wide variety of feature performances and site activities such as face painting, circus arts, festival games and more! Come help us celebrate 40 fabulous years!
