The Peace Chime Initiative

June 21, 2016

The Vancouver International Children’s Festival, Gandharva Loka Vancouver, the Galiano Trail Society and the Tapovan, Sri Chinmoy Peace Park partnered together to create one of the largest peace pipes in the world!

During the Festival, children (both young and old) shared “Peace” around the world by each painting one of the bamboo pipes. Using various languages and adding their own artistic flare, participants were able to contribute to this wonderful art installation.

The completed wind chime will be hung in the Tapovan, Sri Chinmoy Peace Park on Galiano Island on Saturday, July 23rd from 1pm to 2:30pm.  More pipes and paint will be available so that you can paint your own chime to add to the creation and share your dreams for peace.

For more information email Vilupti or visit the Gandharva Loka store on Granville Island at 1650 Johnston Street. While you’re there, be sure to check out the great selection of high quality children’s instruments they have in stock. Who knows, you might even be able to turn your child’s love of video games into a love of music with an Angry Birds’ Ocarina?
