Meet our Development Manager
October 03, 2017
We’d like to introduce you to Michelle Cronier, the Vancouver International Children’s Festival’s Development Manager. She is responsible for facilitating new connections and developing relationships with all of the Festival’s supporters, donors and sponsors. Please contact Michelle if your company, business or foundation is interested in supporting the Festival. We recently sat down with Michelle and asked her some questions. You can find out more about Michelle below:
Can you tell us about your role at the Festival?
I’m responsible for developing and strengthening partnerships for the Festival and managing much of our fundraising strategy.
What traits do you need to do your job?
Top traits would be: interpersonal abilities, verbal and written communication skills, and definitely perseverance!
What’s the best thing about your job?
I love the relationship building part of the job. All great partnerships are built on solid relationships.
What is your favourite thing to do in your spare time?
Practicing yoga, running, spending time in the forest and making music with my little family.
What is the most unusual thing you know how to do?
I don’t really have any special skills….but I am kind of locally renowned for decorating my son’s birthday cakes with mountains, rainbows, trees and musical instruments made out of fruit.
What artistic talent do you have or wish you had?
I wish I could sing. I still do sing, much to my family’s chagrin, but I wish I was actually good at it.
Name 3 things you love about your current neighbourhood?
It would be hard to name just 3 things…we are at the foot of a mountain and steps from an oasis of trails with eagles and herons regularly swooping over salmon spawning tributaries that lead to a majestic river. Having the forest so close is truly a gift and we’re also surrounded by a strong and supportive community of neighbours!
What part of the festival are you looking forward to the most?
I really love that feeling when all of the planning and preparing is complete and activations are up and running and you can walk around and see all of your hard work come to life!
