Youth for Youth

March 21, 2016

In 2011, building on previous youth participation in the Festival, we developed our Youth for Youth (Y4Y) program that provides outstanding mentorship to emerging artists and young people ages 15-24. The program focuses on the development of artistic skills in order to create work for the Festival that is innovative, exciting and engaging. For 2016 we have two new creations that invite the youth to develop their artistic skills through music and puppetry.  Come see them perform in our Activity Village

Singer/songwriter/actor Vanessa Richards will mentor youth from Little Lantern to discover Wild Lights in the Garden. Imagine. Make. Move. Sing. Play. Shine. Participatory Pacific Rim fun devised by teens for children and guardians.

Visual artist/puppeteer Tamara Unroe will engage with emerging visual artists to create larger than life puppets that will surprise and delight.

Our Youth for Youth program is made possible with support from the British Columbia Arts Council and the RBC Foundation.
