Moving on to Granville Island

April 03, 2011

The Vancouver International Children?s Festival is on the move after 33 years at Vanier Park.

It was with great deliberation and sadness that we moved the festival from its beloved location, but for the Festival’s survival we decided it was necessary to shake things up so it can continue
to grow artistically and move towards a sustainable future.  Once the decision was made it became obvious that Granville Island is the next best home for our Festival.

The theme for our inaugural Children’s Festival on Granville Island is A Journey of Discovery which seems fitting as we reinvent ourselves in our new home. There will be much to discover both
artistically and logistically, but the most important focus of our theme is that we have created a festival that engages our imaginations, creates a sense of celebration, encourages inspiration and
connection and most importantly let?s us all have fun!

I invite you to be curious about the endless possibilities our new home provides and come on out and enjoy the talented artists
from across Canada and around the world  that we are thrilled to present.

There will be an Island-full of fun for kids of all ages to enjoy free music shows at the Coast Capital Savings World Youth Stage, to try something new or just have some fun at one of our creative
arts activities .  All show tickets include free access to the five Festival Interactive Zones where you and your children will be
immersed in Celebration, Exploration, Inspiration, Imagination and Connection as you journey around Granville Island.

I look forward to seeing you and having fun at the 2011 Vancouver International Children’s Festival!
