Meet our Operations Manager

June 28, 2017

Leanne Zacharias has been involved with the Festival for many years and in many different capacities. From her early days with the Festival as a volunteer and performer to running our Artist Services,  Leanne always brings her infectious enthusiasm and passion to whatever her role.  Now, we’d like to welcome her to her new role as Operations Manager.  Leanne oversees the operations of the Festival and ensures our organization is running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. We recently sat down with Leanne and asked her some questions.  Find out more about Leanne below:

What’s the best thing about your job?

Working with the volunteers.  Many of the volunteers are high school students and for a good portion of them this is their first experience working and handling responsibility. It’s so rewarding to see the volunteers rise up to the challenge and take charge.  I love seeing them really grow and blossom from their experience at the Festival.

What traits do you need to do your job?

A sense of humour, organizational skills, and people skills.

What is your favourite thing to do in your spare time?

Early morning or afternoon yoga!

What is the most unusual thing you know how to do?

I can top a sugar beet. I have trophies!

What artistic talent do you have or wish you had?

I love to sing! My very first involvement with the festival was as a volunteer and then as a performer on the music stage.

Name 3 things you love about your current neighbourhood?

The location is gorgeous, the proximity to work is handy, and it’s close to everything I need!

What part of the festival are you looking forward to the most?

Everything!! But if I had to choose one thing it would be the birthday party. There truly is never a dull moment at the festival!
