Five Crafty Spring Activities

March 05, 2013

1) Spring abounds with new life. What a perfect time to teach the kids origami  ? perhaps a paper flower, the classic crane or a simple snail for the bug
lover in your family.

–> Did you know there will be an origami activity  at this year’s Kids’ Fest? Oh, and all arts activities are free with your show
ticket.

2) If there’s sun and wind in the forecast, plan a kite-flying trip to Vanier Park or any windy spot. But make the kites first: How to make and decorate a colorful kite
.

3) If making a slew of kites seems daunting, try this simple stained glass sun catcher  using wax paper and melted crayons.

4)  Brighten up your living space with this delightful Easter egg garland made from balloons and yarn. Ideal for older children.

5)  Create a nature mobile . Kids play nature scientist and artist. Take a nature walk outside to look for interesting specimens, then arrange them
artfully into a graceful nature mobile.

Bonus craft! Try this super simple and delightful art project for preschoolers ? a spring butterfly using a coffee filter, a clothespin, a
pipe cleaner and markers.
