A great first day and opening night party yesterday!

May 31, 2011

It all kicked off yesterday with our Preschool Day and we were delighted to host all the wee ones, their families and teachers.

All of the shows for Scenes From A Tree (IndigoKids Stage at Studio 1398) and Music with Marnie
(Festival SoundStage) sold out so there were lots of kids out having lots of fun. Pirate’s Cove
has also been really popular and is practically sold out for the week. Rush Tickets for all shows showing sold out on
our website may be available at the venue (or at the Aquabus dock in the case of Pirate’s Cove) up from two hours up until showtime.

All of the activities in the 5 Interactive Zones got rolling as well, and we certainly saw lots of children walking around who had
either their face painted, made a mask at Legends of Taiwan, learned about power at BC Hydro’s PowerSmart tent and got a cute little lime green sandbucket to take come, sang a song with Chris
Hamilton and Salty at Port Metro Vancouver, or made a doorhanger at FortisBC’s creation station.

Safety First! There were lots of crossing guards around the Island to help in case people and little ones needed to cross the road.

Opening Night Party!

To celebrate our new home on Granville Island we closed down Railspur Alley and held a street party!  It was a gorgeous evening with blue skies and loads of surprise entertainment throughout the
evening. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to help us celebrate and acknowledge all our fabulous sponsors, donors and supporters. Here are a few photos of the night, with more coming on our
Facebook page – get tagging!

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to everyone who made the party such a wonderful event!
