11 Fun Suggestions for How to Spend Family Day

 1. The Vancouver Art Gallery

First, enjoy the featured Emily Carr or Anotni Muntadas exhibitions. Then head over to the Making Place, which is a hands-on arts workshop for kids taking place from noon to 4pm. Free admission
for children under twelve all day!

 

2. Family Day at Renfrew Park Community Centre

Free celebrations running from 12:30pm to 3pm, with a bouncy castle, balloons, face painting and crafts that everyone can enjoy.

 

3. Will Stroet and His Backyard Band

Performing their new album, both in English and French, watch Will and his Band perform at Roundhouse Community Centre at 10:30am. Tickets are $12 per person or $40 for a family.

 

4. Museum of Anthropology

From 11:30am to 3pm MOA will be hosting Afro-Cuban drumming and dancing lessons for members. Then at 2pm there will be a performance by Rumba Calzada for the public.

 

5. Family Day in New Westminster

With over 10 locations participating in the festivities, New Westminster provides many engaging options for the Holiday. Some highlights are: the River Market with free arts & crafts, a magician
show and live animals; the Fraser River Discovery Centre with free face painting and gold panning; and the Centennial Community Centre with family fitness classes, entertainment and crafts.

 

6. Family Fun Fest in Mount Pleasant

From 10:15am to 12:15pm, the Mount Pleasant Community Centre is hosting crafts and activities for the under fives.

 

7. Flyover Canada Presents Flight of the Dragon

FlyOver Canada, in Canada Place, is a breathtaking flight stimulation ride educating riders on Canada?s culture and geography. Now also included in the experience is ?Flight of the Dragon?. This
ride takes passengers over China?s landscapes and uses special effects to create a first hand experience.

 

8. Grouse Mountain

The mountain will have many family friendly activities to celebrate the holiday! The day begins with a pancake breakfast at 8am. Next, from 10am to 4pm, there will be complimentary family photos,
and a scavenger hunt. There will also be a reading by Janet Love Morrison from her bookRadar the Rescue Dog at 10:30am. Best of all, lift and admission tickets are half price!

 

9. Vancouver Aquarium

On February 9th, the Aquarium is hosting a family sleep over! The event includes interactive activities, behind-the-scenes tours, ocean themed experiments, a continental breakfast, and a night
sleeping next to the belugas!

 

10. Charlotte Diamond and the Hug Bug Band

Performing at the ACT Theatre in Maple Ridge, enjoy Charlotte?s fun new songs and her classic sing-alongs! Tickets are $15 each or $50 for a group of four.

 

11. Port Moody Arts Centre

The centre is having a free open house so the whole family can enjoy art demonstrations, experience hands-on arts projects, and stroll through the exhibitions.
